I n d em n ity .	the Officers of the Treasury and other Public Officers in respect of certain unau­ thorized advances and payments on the
Public Account. [9̂ /̂ March, 1883.]

Preamble.	T X T H E aE A S certain sums of money were advanced on tlic credit
VV of the Consolidated Kevenue Fund to Public Officers for
expenditure on the Public Account prior to the fifth day of January last without the authority of Parliament which said sums are shown by Schedule A hereto and amount to the sum of ninety-three thousand six hundred and ninety-five pounds eight shillings And whereas certain payments were made from the Consolidated Revenue Fund on the Public Account subsequent to the fifth day of January last also Avithont the authority of Parliament for the Services and to the amounts set forth in Schedule B hereto Avhich payments amount to the sum of one hundred and scA’cntcen thousand eight hundred and eighty pounds nineteen shillings and three jicnee And whereas the respective sums so advanced and payments so made Avere necessary to carry on and main­ tain the Pnldic Service And it is expedient to indemnify all persons concerned or engaged in the matter of such advances and payments

Be it therefore enacted hy the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty hy and Avith the advice and consent ol‘ the Lcgislath'c Council and Legislative Assembly of New South ILales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as folloAvs ;—

1. The Colonial Treasurer and his Officers the Commander of incicnmitytoColonial

the Training-ship “ ITolverenc” the Government Printer the Com­ missioner for llaihvays and all persons Avhosoever concerned or engaged in making the said advances or payments arc hereby indemnified and held harmless for and in resjiect of the expenditure of the said sums of ninety-three thousand six hundred and ninety-five pounds eight shillings and one hundred and seA'cnteen thousand eight hundred and eighty pounds nineteen shillings and three pence respectively.

2. This Act may be cited as the “ Unauthorized Expenditure short title.

(1883) Indemnity Act.”
