An Act to l imit the dura t ion of Pa r l i aments

to Three Years. [6th February, 1874.]

Legislat ive Assembly of t he said Colony thereafter to be summoned and WH E R E A S n ine teen th Victoria chapter fifty-four i t is enacted t h a t every
chosen should cont inue for five years from t h e day of t he r e t u r n of t he wri ts for choosing the same and no longer subject never theless to be sooner prorogued or dissolved by the Governor of t he said Colony A n d whereas i t is expedient t h a t t he said period should be shortened Be i t therefore enacted by the Queen 's Most Exce l len t Majesty by a n d wi th t he advice and consent of t he Legislat ive Council and Legislat ive Assembly of N e w South Wales in P a r l i a m e n t assembled and by the au thor i ty of t h e same as follows :—
1. So m u c h of t he said Ac t as is hereinbefore reci ted shall be and t h e same is hereby repealed.
2. Every fu ture Legislat ive Assembly of New South W a l e s shall exist and cont inue for t h ree years from the day of t h e r e tu rn of t h e W r i t s for choosing t h e same and no longer subject nevertheless to be sooner prorogued or dissolved by the Governor of t h e said Colony.
