AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Trespass on Commonwealth Lands

Ordinance 1932-1942.

B E it ordained by the Governor-General in and over the Executive Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the

Commonwealth of Austral ia, with the advice of the Federal

Seat of Government Acceptance Act 1909-1938 and the Seat of
Government (Administration) Act 1910-1910, as follows:—
1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Trespass on Com- short title an on '
nionwealth Lands Ordinance 1943.*
(2.) The Trespass on Commonwealth Lands Ordinance 1932-

1942 is in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3.) The Pr incipal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance,

may be cited as the Trespass on Commonwealth Ljands Ordinance
1932-1943.

2. This Ordinance shall commence on a date to be fixed by commencement,

the Minister by notice in the Gazette.

" 3A. The Minister may appoint such Inspectors as he considers Notices

necessary for carrying out this Ordinance. trespass."8
" 3 B . — (1.) The Minister may cause to be placed on any lawn in any public place in the City Area, a notice prohibiting trespass or the deposit of bicycles or other articles thereon.
(2.) A person shalL not, without lawful excuse (proof whea-eof shall lie upon h im) , trespass upon, or deposit a bicycle or other article upon, any such lawn, on which there is a notice prohibit ing trespass or the deposit thereon of bicycles or other articles.

Pena l ty :  Ten pounds.

" 3 c . — (1.) Any Inspector may impound any bicycle or other Bicycles, &c,

article (deposited in contravention of sub-section (2.) of the last Impounded,
preceding section) on any lawn in a public place and may hand
over the bicycle or other article to the Transport Officer, Trans-
port .Section, Depar tment of the Interior, Kingston.

(2.) The bicycle or other article shall be restored to the owner on payment by him of a storage fee of Five shillings.

(3.) Any bicycle or other article not restored to the owner within six months after the date upon which it was impounded may be sold or disposed of by direction of the Minister by public auct ion:

Provided that a perishable article may be disposed of at such

earlier time and in such manner as the Minister directs.
