All Act to indemnify tlie (b lonial Treasurer, the Officers of the Treasury, and otlier persons, in respeet of certain nnanthorised withdrawals and paym ents from tlie Pnhlie Aeeonnts of the Colonial Treasurer in the Banks keeping* such Aeeonnts. [22ad Deccuthcr, 1899.]

keeping such Accounts without the autliority of Parliament for the WPublic Accounts of the Colonial Treasurer in tbe Banks

purpose of paying tbe claims of contractors and otbers in anticipation of the sanction of Parliament, wliicb said sums are sliown in tbe Scbedule hereto, and amount to tlie snm of One million two

hundred and seventy-eight thousand nine hundred and forty pounds ten shillings and seven pence : And Avhereas the respective sums so Avithdrawn and payments so made Avere necessary to carry on and maintain the Public Service : And Aidiereas it is expedient to indemnify all persons concerned or (oigaged in the matter of such AvithdraAAmls or paymmits : Be it tlicrefore enacted by the (Queen’s Most Excellent Maj(;sty, by and Avitli tlie advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Ix'gislativc Assembly of New South *Walcs in Parliament assembled, and by tbe authority of the same, as follows :—

1. Tlie Colonial Treasurer, the Officers of the Treasury, and all indenDiih u>

persons AvbosoeAnr concerned or engaged in making the said AAutli-

draAvals or jiayments are hereby indemnified and held harmless for

and in resjiect of the AA'ithdraAval and expenditure of the said sum of One million two bimdred and seventy-eight thousand nine hundred and forty pounds ten sbillings and seven ])once.

2. This Act may be cited as the “ Treasurv Indmiinity Act, short, tuic.
