| IlfDEMKITY. | An Act to indemnify the Governor and the Officers of the Colonial Treasury in respect of certain unauthorized Payments for the ex tension of the Circular Quay. December, 1855.] |
| Preamble. | I I 7 HEREAS by the Act of Council eighteen Victoria number |
| Y V thirty-four a sum not exceeding thirty-one thousand four | |
| hundred and fifty-eight pounds was appropriated and authorized to be issued out of the produce of the taxes duties rates and imposts levied ufithin the Colony for certain extensions of the Circular Quay at Sydney And whereas the cost of the said works has exceeded the estimate under which the said sum of money was so appropriated by the sum of ten thousand six hundred and seven pounds four shillings and seven-pence three-farthings And whereas certain extra works not included in the said estimate have been done to the amount of three thousand three hundred and ninety-two pounds fifteen shillings and four-pence farthing such sums making together an excess of fourteen thousand pounds over the said amount so appropriated And whereas the said sum of fourteen thousand pounds has been paid out of the |

Sydney Sewerage and Water.
Public General Revenues of the Colony by fbe Colonial Treasurer thereof under warrants signed by His Excellency the Governor with out the authority of any Vote or Act of the Legislature of the Colony And whereas under the circumstances of the case it is expedient that all Officers concerned in such expenditure should be indemnified in respect thereof Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of New South Wales with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof as follows ;—
His Excellency the Governor and the Colonial Treasurer and Governor and
Auditor General of the Colony and all persons whatever having acted cdoniai*TJea9ury
under their or either of their warrants orders or directions shall be and indemnified as to
are hereby indemnified for and in respect of any warrant order or direc- dftm era’the Cfircu-
tion which they or either of them may have given or made or caused lar Quay,
to be given or made for the expenditure of the said sum of fourteen
thousand pounds or any portion thereof and for and in respect of all
payments made or caused to be made by them or any of them for the
works aforesaid in excess of the said appropriation not exceeding the
said sum of fourteen thousand pounds.
