This regulation may be cited as the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Amendment Regulation (No. 4) 1999 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the TransportOperations(PassengerTransport) Regulation 1994 . ˙ Amendment of s 15B (Requirement for driver authorisation after 31 July 1999—public passenger services to which the Act, s 24 does not apply) 3.(1) Section 15B, heading, ‘ after 31 July 1999 ’— omit . (2) Section 15B(1), ‘After’ to ‘November 1999’— omit, insert — ‘Until the end of 31 May 2000’. (3) Section 15B(2), ‘After 30 November 1999’— omit, insert — ‘After 31 May 2000’. ˙ Amendment of s 20 (Safety requirements) 4. Section 20, heading— omit, insert— ‘ Passenger safety and comfort ’. ˙ Omission of ss 43A and 43B 5. Sections 43A and 43B— omit .

After section 62A— insert— ˙ ‘ Chief executive may issue guidelines ‘ 62B.(1) The chief executive may issue guidelines about the following matters— (a) suitable types and ages of vehicles to provide public passenger services for which operator accreditation is required; (b) the cleanliness, tidiness and comfort of vehicles used to provide a taxi service, limousine service, scheduled passenger service or long distance scheduled passenger service for which operator accreditation is required. ‘ (2) A guideline must be published in the gazette.’. ˙ Amendment of sch 1 (Market entry restrictions) 7. Schedule 1, item 4— insert— ‘13. Bamaga/ Horn Island/ Bamaga’. ˙ Amendment of sch 5 (Equipment for vehicles) 8.(1) Schedule 5, section 1(2), after ‘radio’— insert— ‘or a telephone that operates in conjunction with a satellite’. (2) Schedule 5, section 2(3), words in parenthesis— omit. (3) Schedule 5, section 2— insert—
