s1 2 s4 Transport Legislation Amendment (No. 2) No. 151, 2000 PART 1—PRELIMINARY ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Transport Legislation Amendment Regulation (No. 2) 2000 . ˙ Commencement 2. This regulation commences on 1 July 2000. PART 2—AMENDMENT OF TOW TRUCK REGULATION 1999 ˙ Regulation amended in pt 2 3. This part amends the Tow Truck Regulation 1999 . ˙ Amendment of s 54 (Towing charges) 4.(1) Section 54(1), ‘The holder’— omit,insert— ‘Subject to subsection (1A), the holder’. (2) Section 54— insert— (1A) The amount stated in schedule 3 may be increased to take account of GST payable on the supply of the standard tow.’.

(2) Schedule 3, item 2, ‘$3.70’— omit, insert ‘$3.79’. PART 3—AMENDMENT OF TRANSPORT OPERATIONS (ROAD USE MANAGEMENT—ROAD RULES) REGULATION 1999 ˙ Regulation amended in pt 3 6. This part amends the TransportOperations(RoadUseManagement—Road Rules) Regulation 1999 . ˙ Amendment of s 200 (Stopping on roads—heavy and long vehicles) 7.(1) Section 200(2), ‘The driver’— omit, insert— ‘Subject to subsection (2A), the driver’. (2) Section 200— insert— (2A) Subsection (2) applies unless a local law otherwise provides.’.
s 8 4 s 10 Transport Legislation Amendment (No. 2) No. 151, 2000 ˙ Amendment of s 242 (Travelling in or on a wheeled recreational device or toy on a footpath or shared path) 8.(1) Section 242(1), ‘A person’— omit, insert— ‘Subject to section (1A), a person’. (2) Section 242— insert— (1A) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person travelling in or on a wheeled recreational device or wheeled toy on a footpath if a local law otherwise provides.’. ˙ Amendment of s 250 (Riding on a footpath or shared path) 9.(1) Section 250(1), ‘The rider’— omit, insert— ‘Subject to subsection (1A), the rider’. (2) Section 250— insert— (1A) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person riding a bicycle on a footpath if a local law otherwise provides.’. ˙ Amendment of s 294 (Keeping control of a vehicle being towed) 10. Section 294(3) to (6)— omit, insert— (3) The driver of a motor vehicle must not tow a bicycle, tricycle, power-assisted cycle, wheeled recreational device, wheeled toy or wheelchair. Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.
s 10 5 s 10 Transport Legislation Amendment (No. 2) No. 151, 2000 (4) The driver of a motor vehicle must not tow more than 1 motor vehicle or trailer. 1 Maximum penalty—20 penalty units. (5) However, the driver may tow— (a) more than 1 vehicle, if the motor vehicle and towed vehicles combine to form a B-double or road train; or (b) a car towing trailer with a vehicle secured to the trailer if— (i) the trailer has effective independent brakes or overrun brakes; and (ii) instructions for securing a vehicle to the trailer are attached to the trailer. (6) In this section— “car towing trailer” means a trailer with 1 axle that allows a vehicle to be towed by securing the wheels of 1 axle of the vehicle to the trailer. “motor vehicle” does not include a trailer attached to the motor vehicle.’.
