s1 2 s5 Transport Infrastructure (Roads) Amendment No. 442, 1997 (No. 3) ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Transport Infrastructure (Roads) Amendment Regulation (No. 3) 1997 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the TransportInfrastructure(Roads)Regulation 1991 . ˙ Amendment of s 2 (Definitions) 3.(1) Section 2, definitions “coloured number plate” , “customised number plate” and “personalised number plate” omit, insert— “personalised number plate” means a number plate that displays a registration number that consists of a combination of numbers or letters reserved for issue by the chief executive.’. (2) Section 2, definition “number plate” , after ‘plate’— insert— ‘, or sticker,’. ˙ Amendment of s 4 (Fees) 4. Section 4, ‘sections 5 and’— omit, insert— ‘section’. ˙ Omission of s 5 (Reduced fees—personalised number plates) 5. Section 5— omit.

Section 23— insert— (2A) However, if a pair of number plates, consisting of a plate and a sticker, has been issued for a motor vehicle, the sticker must be attached to the front of the vehicle in accordance with subsection (2).’. ˙ Amendment of s 25 (Personalised number plates) 7.(1) Section 25(1), ‘the prescribed plate fee’— omit, insert— ‘an amount determined by the chief executive’. (2) Section 25— insert— (2A) A person may, on payment of an amount determined by the chief executive, apply to the chief executive to convert a number plate to a personalised number plate.’. (3) Section 25(4), ‘(other than a customised number plate)’— omit. ˙ Amendment of s 26 (Customised number plates) 8. Section 26(1) and (2)— omit, insert— 26.(1) An owner of a registered vehicle may apply to the chief executive to customise the number plate for the vehicle. (2) Once the number plate has been customised, the owner may— (a) keep the number plate without attaching it to a vehicle; or (b) apply to the chief executive to attach the number plate to a vehicle owned by the owner. (2A) A person must not attach a customised number plate to a vehicle
s 9 4 s 11 Transport Infrastructure (Roads) Amendment No. 442, 1997 (No. 3) until a person has— (a) applied to the chief executive in the approved form; and (b) received a certificate of registration showing the number of the customised number plate as the registration number for the vehicle. (2B) The chief executive may issue a customised number plate— (a) in colours other than— (i) green symbols on a white background; or (ii) white symbols on a black background; or (b) in a reduced size.’. ˙ Amendment of s 42 (Property in number plates) 9. Section 42(3)— omit. ˙ Amendment of sch 1 (Fees) 10.(1) Schedule 1, part 3, item 1— omit, insert— 1. Limousine number plate . . . .
