TRANSPORT (DIVISION OF FUNCTIONS)

AMENDMENT ACT.

Act No. 38, 1956.

An Act to make certain provisions consequent upon the constitution of the office of the Minister for Highways; for this purpose to amend the Transport (Division of Functions) Act, 1932, as amended by subsequent Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 9th November, 1956.]

1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Transpor t (Division of Functions) Amendment Act, 1956."

(2) The Transport (Division of Functions) Act, 1932, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Transport (Division of Functions) Act, 1932-1956.

2 . The Transport (Division of Functions) Act, 1932,

as amended by subsequent Acts, is amended—

(a) by inserting at the end of section three the following new subsection:—

(3) (a) The Department of Main Roads shall as from the date of commencement of this sub- section cease to be a department into which the Ministry of Transport is divided pursuant to subsection one of this section.

(b) This subsection shall be deemed to have commenced upon the date upon which the Minister for Highways was appointed, notifica- tion of whose appointment was published in Gazette Number Twenty-six of the fifteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-six.

by inserting at the end of subsection five of section six the words " for the time being administering the Main Roads Act, 1924, as amended by subsequent Acts" .
