Act No. 122, 1984.

An Act to amend the Transport Authorities Act, 1980, so as to increase the age limit for appointed members of the State Rail Authority, the Urban Transit Authority and the Railway Workshops Board; to amend the Transport Authorities (Amendment) Act, 1983; and to validate certain

matters. [Assented to, 23rd November, 1984.]

Transport Authorities (Further Amendment) 1984

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: —

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the "Transport Authorities (Further

Amendment) Act, 1984".

Commencement.

2.      (1) Except as provided by subsection ( 2 ) , this Act shall commence

on the date of assent to this Act.

(2) Section 5 and Schedule 2 shall be deemed to have commenced on

19th April, 1984.

1. This Act contains the following Schedules:—

Amendment of Act No. 103, 1980.

1. The Transport Authorities Act, 1980, is amended in the manner set

forth in Schedule 1.

Amendment of Act No. 151, 1983.

5. The Transport Authorities (Amendment) Act, 1983, is amended in

the manner set forth in Schedule 2.

Transport Authorities (Further Amendment) 1984

Validation.

Any act, matter or thing (including any appointment to, or decision of, the Urban Transit Authority) that was done or made or purported to have been done or made before the date of assent to this Act and that would have been valid if—

(a)	section 3 of, and Schedule 1 to, the Transport Authorities (Amend- ment) Act, 1983, had commenced on 19th April, 1984; and
(b)	the Urban Transit Authority had been constituted in accordance with the Transport Authorities Act, 1980, as amended by the Transport Authorities (Amendment) Act, 1983,

is hereby validated.

AMENDMENTS TO THE TRANSPORT AUTHORITIES ACT, 1980.

(1) Schedule 1, clause 3—

Omit "65", insert instead "70".

(2) Schedule 1, clause 7 (1) ( j )—

Omit "65". insert instead "70".

AMENDMENTS TO THE TRANSPORT AUTHORITIES (AMENDMENT) ACT.

1983.

(1) Section 2 (2)—

Omit the subsection, insert instead:—

(2) Section 3 and Schedule 1 shall commence on 19th April, 1984.

(2) Section 4—

Omit '"the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2)"' wherever occurring, insert instead "19lh April, 1984".
