Act No. 151, 1983.

An Act to amend the Transport Authorities Act, 1980, so as to increase the membership of the Urban Transit Authority. [Assented to, 23rd Decem­ ber, 1983.]

Transport Authorities {Amendment).

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the ‘Transport Authorities (Amendment)

Act, 1983”.

Commencement.

(1) Except as provided by subsection (2), this Act shall commence on the date of assent to this Act.

(2) Section 3 and Schedule 1 shall commence on such day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.

Amendment of Act No. 103, 1980.

3. The Transport Authorities Act, 1980, is amended in the manner set

forth in Schedule 1.

Transitional provisions.

(1) For the purpose only of enabling the Urban Transit Authority to be constituted in accordance with the Transport Authorities Act, 1980, as amended by this Act, on or after (but not before) the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2), an appointment or appointments may be made under that Act, as amended by this Act, and any other act, matter or thing may be done, before that day as if the whole of this Act commenced on the date of assent to this Act.

(2) Nothing in this Act affects the tenure of office of any member of the Urban Transit Authority holding office immediately before the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2).

(1) (a) Section 27 (2) —

Omit “10”, insert instead “11”.

(b) Section 27 (2) (b) —

Omit “6”, insert instead “7”.

(c) Section 27 (4) (e)—

Omit “and”.

(d) Section 27 (4) (f) —

Omit “Wales.”, insert instead “Wales; and”.

(e) Section 27 (4) (g)—

After section 27 (4) (f), insert:—

(g) 1 shall be appointed, on the nomination of the Executive Committee of the Transport Workers’ Union of Australia (New South Wales Branch), to be a representative of employees in the private omnibus and taxi-cab industry.
