I, John Douglas Stott, Chief Executive of the State Transit Authority, in pursuance of the Transport Administration Act 1988, make the following Order on behalf of the State Transit Authority.

Explanatory note

The object of this Order is to amend the Transport Administration (State Transit Authority—Fares) Order 1991 so as to split the sectional basis on which single and multi-trip fares for distances covered by 3–9 sections are charged for bus services in the Sydney Suburban Area. The effect is as follows:

(a)

passengers travelling distances covered by 3–5 sections will be charged $0.20 (or, if a concessional fare, $0.10) less than the current charge for a single trip ticket,

(b)

passengers travelling distances covered by 6–9 sections will be charged $0.40 (or, if a concessional fare, $0.20) more than the current charge for a single trip ticket,

(c)

passengers travelling distances covered by 3–5 sections will be charged $1.60 (or, if a concessional fare, $0.80) less than the current charge for a multi-trip ticket (3–5 sections are now to be covered by the new TravelTen Brown ticket),

Explanatory note

(d)

passengers travelling distances covered by 6–9 sections will be charged $2.40 (or, if a concessional fare, $1.20) more than the current charge for a multi–trip ticket (namely, the TravelTen Red ticket).

This Order is made under the Transport Administration Act 1988, and, in particular, the provisions of Division 5 of Part 8.

Order 1991 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.
