I , John Douglas Stott, Chief Executive of the State Transit Authority, in
pursuance of the Transport Administration Act 1988, make the following
Order on behalf of the State Transit Authority.

Explanatory note
The object of this Order is to amend the Transport Administration (State
Transit Authority—Fares) Order 1991: (a) to provide for a new ticket to be known as the StarCityLink ticket, to define the routes on which it may be used and to set charges for the ticket, and (b) to provide that a ticket (except a Newcastle Multi-Ride ticket) issued for a period continues to be valid until 4 am on the next day after the period expires, and ( c )
to amend the definitions of Outer Metropolitan Area and Newcastle Suburban Area so as to alter the boundaries of those areas, and
( d ) to make certain consequential amendments. This Order also restates provisions of that Order relating to certain tickets so

1 Name of Order
This Order is the Transport Administration (State Transit
Authority—Fares) Amendment Order 1998.
2 Amendment of Transport Administration (State Transit Authority—Fares) Order 1991
The Transport Administration (State Transit Authority—Fares)
Order I991 is amended as set out in Schedule l .

Insert “or light rail services provided by the Sydney Light Rail
Company Limited” after “State Rail Authority”.[2]
Clause 8 Omit the clause. Insert instead: 8 Validity of tickets
(1)
A single or return ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for a journey or journeys completed on the day on which it is issued or before 4 am on the next day.
(2) A weekly ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is
valid only:
(a)
in the case of a Blue, Orange, Pittwater or Two Zone TravelPass, for the period of one week commencing with the day of first use specified on the ticket and until 4 am on the next day following the expiry of the one-week period, or
(b)
in any other case, for the period of one week ending with the day of expiry stamped on the ticket at the time of purchase and until 4 am on the next day.
(3)
A quarterly ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for the period of 3 months ending with the day of expiry specified on the ticket and until 4 am on the next day.
(4)
A yearly ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for the period of 12 months ending with the day of expiry specified on the ticket and until 4 am on the next day.

A BusTripper ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for the day of first use specified on the ticket and until 4 am on the next day.
A Sydney DayTripper ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for the day of first use specified on the ticket and until 4 am on the next day.
A DayRover ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only:
(a) for the day on which it is issued and until 4 am on the next day, if issued from a railway or ferry booking office, or (b) for the day of first use specified on the ticket and until 4 am on the next day, if issued from a State Transit Authority booking office (other than a ferry booking office). A CityHopper ticket issued by the State Rail Authority is valid only for the day on which it is issued and until 4 am on the next day.
A Newcastle Multi-Ride 1-Hour bus ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for a journey commenced within 1 hour of the time of first use specified on the ticket.
A Newcastle Multi-Ride 4-Hour bus ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for a journey commenced within 4 hours of the time of first use
specified on the ticket. A Newcastle Multi-Ride Day bus-ferry ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for a journey commenced within 23 hours of the time of first use specified on the ticket.
A Newcastle Time-Ten Multi-Ride bus ticket issued by the State Transit Authority is valid only for journeys commenced during any of 10 non-overlapping one-hour periods, each of which commences when it is first used during that hour.
