I, John Douglas Stott, Chief Executive of the State Transit Authority, in pursuance of section 85 (2) of the Transport Administration Act 1988, make the following Order.

Explanatory note

The object of this Order is to provide for time-based tickets to be used in the Newcastle Suburban Area. This Order also omits provisions relating to the Newcastle Blue TravelPass and the Newcastle Red Travelpass.

This Order is made under the Transport Administration Act 1988, including

section 85 (Orders fixing charges) and, in particular, section 85 (2).

1 Name of Order

This Order is the Transport Administration (State Transit

Authority—Fares) Amendment Order 1996.

2 Commencement

This Order commences on 6 January 1997.

3 Amendment of Transport Administration (State Transit Authority—Fares) Order 1991

The Transport Administration (State Transit Authority—Fares)

Order 1991 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Clause 8 Validity of tickets

After clause 8 (8), insert:

A Newcastle Multi-Ride l-Hour bus ticket is valid only for travel commenced within 1 hour of the time of first use as marked on the ticket.

A Newcastle Multi-Ride 4-Hour bus ticket is valid only for travel commenced within 4 hours of the time of first use as marked on the ticket.

A Newcastle Multi-Ride Day bus-ferry ticket is valid only for travel commenced within 23 hours of the time of first use as marked on the ticket.

Clause 9 Certain services excluded from Travelpasses etc

Omit “(racecourse) services”.

Insert instead “(racecourse) service”.

Clause 13 Definitions

Omit the definitions of Newcastle Blue Travelpass and Newcastle

Red Travelpass.

Schedule 1 Amendments

Newcastle Multi-Ride 4-Hour bus ticket means a ticket

that allows unlimited travel on the State Transit Authority’s bus services in the Newcastle Suburban Area commenced within 4 hours of the time of first use as marked on the ticket.

Newcastle Multi-Ride Day Bus-ferry ticket means a

ticket that allows unlimited travel on the State Transit Authority’s bus services and ferry services in the Newcastle Suburban Area commenced within 23 hours of the time of first use as marked on the ticket.

Newcastle Time-Ten Multi-Ride bus ticket means a

ticket that:

(a) allows unlimited travel, on the State Transit Authority’s bus services in the Newcastle Suburban Area, within 1 hour of the time of first use as marked on the ticket, and
(b) may be used at any time, but in respect of only ten
1 -hour periods.
