STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1918.

following Regulations under the

11. Subject to the modifications contained in regulation 12 of these Regulations, the provisions of the Naval Financial Regulations relative to recoveries in respect of clothing from men discharged within two years of entry, shall apply to Boys.
12. Where kit is recovered on account of discharge within two years of entry in accordance with the provisions of the Naval Financial Regulations, it shall be disposed of as follows:—
(
a ) Articles useful for issue as Loan Clothing shall be taken on charge for that purpose by the Accountant Officer, and their value, as determined by the Captain, shall be treated as a set-off against the Clothing charge.(
b ) Other articles in a good state of preservation shall be taken on charge by the Accountant Officer for issue at two-thirds of the cost of new articles, such value being treated as a set-off against the Clothing charge.(
c ) The balance of the kit shall be sold before the mast in the usual manner and the proceeds treated as a set-off against the Clothing charge.C.11736.—Price 3d.
27.—(1) Long leave, not to exceed six weeks per annum, may he granted to boys.
(2) At the discretion of the Naval Board, long leave may be divided into two periods.
(3) Additional leave may be granted to cover the period necessarily occupied in travelling.
(4) On each occasion of proceeding on long leave, a boy may be provided at Government expense with a second class return rail ticket, or steerage steamer ticket (second class may be granted if steerage accommodation is not available) from the ship to his home. At the discretion of the Commanding Officer, a boy may, in lieu of such ticket, be granted a return ticket to the home of a relative or friend, provided the cost does not exceed that of a return ticket to his home. He shall also be paid travelling allowance in advance at the rate of 4s. per diem (for portion of a day—1s. for the first six hours, and 6d. for every subsequent three hours), while actually travelling to and from his destination, provided that travelling allowance shall not be paid for any time occupied in travelling in ships or trains where meals are provided at the expense of the Department.
(5) Boys whose credit permits of it may be paid by the Accountant Officer a sum not exceeding 40s. as pocket money prior to proceeding on leave. Where the Ledger credit of less than this sum the difference may be drawn from the Boys’ Savings Bank Accounts.
