Traffic (Road Rules) Amendment Regulations 2006

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Traffic Act 1925 .6 November 2006

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Traffic (Road Rules) Amendment Regulations 2006 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette. 3Principal RulesIn these regulations, the Traffic (Road Rules) Regulations 1999 are referred to as the Principal Rules. 4Rule 383 amended (Exemption for transport inspector) Rule 383(1)(c) of the Principal Rules is amended by omitting "magenta" and substituting "blue or red". 5Schedule 6 amended (Jurisdictional qualifications) Schedule 6 to the Principal Rules is amended by omitting "appointed or employed for the purposes of the Emergency Services Act 1976 " from clause 2(b) of Division 1 of Part 2 and substituting "appointed or employed for the purposes of the Emergency Management Act 2006 or registered as a volunteer member of the State Emergency Service under section 28(2)(b) of that Act".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the regulation) These regulations amend the

(a) provide that transport inspector exemptions will only apply to transport inspectors driving vehicles if the vehicles display blue or red, rather than magenta, flashing lights; and (b) make changes consequent on the enactment of the Emergency Management Act 2006 .
