Traffic (Road Rules) Amendment (Novice Driver Licensing) Regulations 2008

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Traffic Act 1925 .11 August 2008

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Traffic (Road Rules) Amendment (Novice Driver Licensing) Regulations 2008 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on 25 August 2008. 3Principal RulesIn these regulations, the Traffic (Road Rules) Regulations 1999 are referred to as the Principal Rules. 4Rule 377 amended (Speed-limits for learners and provisional licensees) Rule 377 of the Principal Rules is amended by omitting subrule (2) and substituting the following subrule: (2)  A driver holding a P1 provisional licence must not drive at a speed exceeding 80 kilometres per hour.

Note: P1 provisional licence is defined in the dictionary.

5Schedule 5 amended (Dictionary) Clause 1 of Schedule 5 to the Principal Rules is amended by omitting the definition of provisional licence and substituting the following definition: P1 provisional licence has the same meaning as in the Vehicle and Traffic (Driver Licensing and Vehicle Registration) Regulations 2000 ;
