Traffic (General and Local) Amendment (Vehicle Standards Consequential) Regulations 2001

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Traffic Act 1925 .15 October 2001

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Traffic (General and Local) Amendment (Vehicle Standards Consequential) Regulations 2001 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on the day on which the Vehicle and Traffic Amendment (Vehicle Standards) Act 2001 commences. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Traffic (General and Local) Regulations 1956 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Regulation 8 amended (Offences)Regulation 8 of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows: (a) by omitting subregulation (1); (b) by omitting from subregulation (2)(a) "or constructed, or in such a condition,". 5Regulations 10, 14AA, 15, 16 and 16A rescindedRegulations 10, 14AA, 15, 16 and 16A of the Principal Regulations are rescinded. 6Regulation 17 amended (Motor cycle passengers)Regulation 17 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulation (2). 7Regulation 17B amended (Motor vehicles not to draw other vehicles except in certain cases)Regulation 17B of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting subregulations (1) and (1A) and substituting the following subregulation: (1)  A person must not drive or use, or cause or permit to be driven or used, a combination on a public street unless – (a) the trailer or, if more than one, the leading trailer in the combination is securely fastened to the motor vehicle in the combination by a coupling that complies with the Vehicle Standards; and (b) if the combination has 2 trailers, the rear trailer is securely fastened to the leading trailer by a coupling that complies with the Vehicle Standards. 8Regulations 19A, 19B and 19C rescindedRegulations 19A, 19B and 19C of the Principal Regulations are rescinded.
