Traffic Amendment (Road Rules Consequential Amendments) Act 2009

An Act to amend certain Acts consequent on the enactment of the Traffic Amendment Act 2009

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

PART 1Preliminary1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Traffic Amendment (Road Rules Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. PART 2Local Government (Highways) Act 1982 Amended3Principal ActIn this Part, the Local Government (Highways) Act 1982 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 44 amended (Protection of bridges from excessive loading) Section 44(3) of the Principal Act is amended by omitting " rule 103 of the Traffic (Road Rules) Regulations 1999 " and substituting " rule 103 of the Road Rules". PART 3Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973 Amended5Principal ActIn this Part, the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973 is referred to as the Principal Act. 6Section 22 amended (Actions for damages in respect of third party liabilities) Section 22(3)(b)(i) of the Principal Act is amended by omitting " Traffic (Road Rules) Regulations 1999 " and substituting "Road Rules". PART 4Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 2008 Amended7Principal ActIn this Part, the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 2008 is referred to as the Principal Act. 8Section 3 amended (Interpretation) Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting " Traffic (Road Rules) Regulations 1999 " from the definition of taxi zone sign and substituting "Road Rules". PART 5Repeal of Act9Repeal of ActThis Act is repealed on the ninetieth day from the day on which all of the provisions of this Act commence.
