s1 2 s4 Traffic Amendment (No. 1) No. 134, 1998 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Traffic Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 1998 . ˙ Regulations amended 2.(1) This regulation, other than the schedule, amends the TrafficRegulation 1962 . (2) The schedule amends the Justices Regulation 1993 . ˙ Amendment of s 84 (Noise from condition, operation or loading of vehicle) 3.(1) Section 84, heading— omit, insert— ‘ Undue noise from condition or loading of vehicle ’ . (2) Section 84(c), from ‘or the manner’— omit. ˙ Insertion of new s 84A 4. After section 84— insert— ˙ ‘ Undue noise from vehicle ‘ 84A. A person must not wilfully drive a vehicle on a road in a way that causes undue noise. Example— Undue noise may be caused by driving a vehicle in a way that causes sustained loss of traction of the driving or steering tyres. Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.’.

(2) Section 142A, table 2, from ‘90 but’ to ‘7’ (third mention)— omit, insert — ‘90 but less than 100 3 3 3’. ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (Demerit points for certain offences) 6. Schedule 2, part 4— insert— ‘ Injurious matter on roads ‘ 17A. The number of points for a contravention of section 61(1) of the Act is 2. ‘ Undue noise from vehicle ‘ 17B. The number of points for a contravention of section 84A is 2.’.
