AN ACT to amend the Traffic Act, 1919-1948.

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title. 1.

This Act may be cited as the Traffic Act Amend- ment Act, 1949, and shall be read as one with the Traffic Act, 1919-1948 (Act No. 60 of 1919 as reprinted with amendments to No. 24 of 1947 incorporated pursuant to the provisions of the Amendments Incorporation Act, 1938, and further amended by No. 51 of 1948), herein- after referred to as the principal Act.

Amendment

Section nine of the principal Act is amended by

substituting the word "fifteen" for the word "fourteen"

in subsection (5), paragraph

of s. 9. 3.

(b), line seven;

(e), line seven;

(d), line eight.

Amendment

4. Section ten of the principal Act is amended by of 8.10.

substituting the word "fifteen" for the word "twenty-

one" in line three of paragraph (a) of the proviso.

Amendment

5. Section nineteen of the principal Act is amended of s. 19.

by

(a)

adding after the word "license" in line seven of paragraph (a), the words "or that the vehicle is being driven or towed on a road it the course of a journey to a repairer for the purpose of the vehicle being repaired;";

(b)

adding after the word "and" in line twelve of

paragraph (i) of the proviso to paragraph

(a) , the following paragraph :—

(ii) this paragraph shall not apply where the vehicle is being driven or towed on a road in course of a journey to a repairer for the purpose of the vehicle being repaired, unless the owner of the vehicle has obtained from the local authority, in whose district the journey on which the vehicle is being driven or towed, commences, a permit for the vehicle to be driven or towed upon the journey for that purpose;

(c)	substituting for the figure "ii" in brackets, thus " (ii)" in line one of paragraph (ii) of the proviso to paragraph (a), the figure "iii" in brackets thus, "(iii)";
(d)	substituting for the words "paragraph (1)" in line three of paragraph (ii) of the proviso to paragraph (a), the words "referred to in paragraphs (i) and (ii)".
