TRAFFIC ACT 1909—REGULATION

(Relating to transfer of functions concerning schemes to assist children to

cross public streets with safety)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,

and in pursuance of the Traffic Act 1909, has been pleased to make the

Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 July 1992.

Amendment

2. The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are mended by omitting from Regulation 55B the words “Commissioner of Police” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word “Authority”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 to

substitute certain references to the Commissioner of Police with references to the
Roads and Traffic Authority.
As a consequence of a recent amendment to the Traffic Act 1909, administrative responsibility for schemes to assist children to cross public streets with safety will
be transferred from the Commissioner of Police to the Authority from 1 July 1992.
