TRAFFIC ACT 1909—REGULATION

(Relating to the wearing of protective helmets by bicycle riders and

passengers)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Traffic Act 1989, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 January 1992.

Amendments

2. The General Traffic Regulations 1916 are amended by omitting

section 3A.2 and 3.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of this Regulation is to amend the General Traffic Regulations 1916 so as to remove all exemptions to the requirement that a person is not to ride a bicycle on a public street, nor travel as a passenger on it, unless the person is

wearing an approved protective helmet on his or her head.
