TRAFFIC ACT 1909—REGULATION

(Relating to the provision of child restraints in taxis)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Traffic Act 1909, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 10 February 1995.

Amendment

2. The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are amended by inserting after

Regulation 110GA (2) (b) the following matter:

; or

(c) a vehicle being operated as a taxi-cab under the authority of a
licence under the Passenger Transport Act 1990.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to reinstate a pre-existing exemption for taxi-cabs

from the requirement to provide child-restraints for children under 1 year of age.

This Regulation is made under section 3 (and in particular section 3 (1) (a) and (g))

of the Traffic Act 1909.
