TRAFFIC ACT 1909 - REGULATION

(Relating to permits for vehicles exceeding prescribed

dimension limits)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive
Council, and in pursuance of the Traffic Act 1909, has been pleased to
make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

WAL MURRAY

Minister for Roads.

The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are amended:
by inserting in Regulation 2 (1) in alphabetical order the
following definition:

''Car Carrier" means a motor vehicle combination designed

or adapted for use for the transport of motor vehicles.

by inserting in Regulation 118 (2) after the word "Police” the words "(or, in the case of a car carrier, from the Commissioner of Police or the Authority)";

by inserting in paragraphs 43 and 161 (1) of Schedule F after the

word "Police" wherever occurring the words "(or, in the case of a car carrier, from the Commissioner of Police or the Authority)".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 so
as to allow certain permits to be issued by the Roads and Traffic Authority. The

permits concerned relate to the use of car carriers whose dimensions exceed the maximum dimensions otherwise permitted by those Regulations for vehicles using public streets. The Regulation also defines "car carrier" for the purposes of those Regulations.
