TRAFFIC ACT 1909—REGULATION

(Relating to flashing warning lamps)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,

and in pursuance of the Traffic Act 1909, has been pleased to make the

Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 5 April, 1991.

Amendments

2. The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are amended:

(a)

by inserting after Regulation 95 (6) (d) (i) (d) the following sub-subparagraph:

(e)

in the case of a vehicle used by the Roads and Traffic Authority, while the vehicle is being used for law enforcement purposes; or

(b)

by inserting in paragraph 42A (a) of Schedule F after the words “vehicles used to escort such vehicles” the words “, vehicles used by the Roads and Traffic Authority”;

(c)

by inserting in paragraph 149 (a) of Schedule F after the words “vehicles used to escort such vehicles’’ the words “, vehicles used by the Roads and Traffic Authority”;

(d)

by inserting in paragraph 149 (a) of Schedule F after the words ‘‘a blue light” the words “or a blue and a red light”;

(e)

by inserting in paragraph 149 (a) of Schedule F after the words “police vehicle;” the words “a crimson light in the case of a vehicle used by the Roads and Traffic Authority”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 so

as to make certain vehicles more conspicuous by:

(a) allowing police vehicles to display both blue and red flashing warning lamps; and
(b) allowing vehicles used by the Roads and Traffic Authority to display crimson flashing warning lamps while those vehicles are being used €or the purposes of law enforcement.
