TRAFFIC ACT 1909—REGULATION
(Prohibiting the driving of motor vehicles on certain portions of
public streets)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,
and in pursuance of the Traffic Act 1909, has been pleased to make the
Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement
1. This Regulation commences on 1 June 1992.
Amendments
2. The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are amended:
(a) by inserting in Regulation 54 (6) (ah) after the words “Diagram 37” the words “or Diagram 37A”;
(b)
by inserting in Regulation 54 (6) (ah) after the words “Diagram 38” the words “or Diagram 38A”;
(c) by inserting after Regulation 54 (6) (ao) the following clause:

(ap) a symbol in or similar to the form of the symbol illustrated in Diagram 37A, 38B, 38D, 38F or 38H in the Schedule to this Regulation means, and the direction represented by the traffic control sign on which it appears is, that the driver of a motor vehicle must not drive, in a direction away from that in which the traffic control sign is facing, on the portion of public street between that sign and the next traffic control sign that faces the direction from which the driver is approaching and on which there appears a symbol in or similar to the form illustrated in Diagram 38A, 38C, 38E, 38G or 38I (respectively) in that Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 so
as to prohibit the driving of motor vehicles on certain portions of public streets.
The portions concerned are to be set aside for the sole use of riders of bicycles,
or are to be shared between bicycle riders and pedestrians.
