Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to allow a motor vehicle which is being used

by a police officer for enforcement purposes to be driven and parked on a

footpath. The Regulation also contains amendments effecting statute law general regulation-making power).

Exemption) Regulation 1997

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Motor Traffic Amendment (Police Parking

Exemption) Regulation 1997.

2 Amendment of Motor Traffic Regulations 1935

The Motor Traffic Regulations 193.5 are amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

[1]        Regulation 81 Stand vehicle near left boundary of carriageway

Insert at the end of Regulation 81 (2):

(3) Nothing in this Regulation prevents a motor vehicle which is being used by a police officer in carrying out enforcement duties from being parked on a footpath.

Insert at the end of Regulation 90A (2) (d) (ii):

(e) a motor vehicle which is being used by a police officer in carrying out enforcement duties.
