His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Traffic Act 1909.

Explanatory note

Regulation 119A of the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 makes it an offence for a person to stand or drive certain vehicles carrying dangerous goods on public streets or in tunnels that are listed in Schedule M to the Regulations. The object of this Regulation is to add Norfolk Road Tunnel at North Epping to Schedule M so that it will be an offence to stand or drive certain vehicles carrying dangerous goods in that tunnel.

This Regulation is made under the Traffic Act 1909, including section 3 (the general regulation making power), in particular section 3 (1) (h).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Motor Traffic Amendment (Norfolk Road

Tunnel) Regulation 1997.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 2 May 1997.

3 Amendment of Motor Traffic Regulations 1935

The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Insert at the end of the Schedule:

The tunnel on the M2 Motorway beneath Norfolk Road at North Epping.
