His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has
made the following Regulation under the Traffic Act 1909.

xplanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to enable the Roads and Traffic Authority to issue a new type of log book for use by drivers of heavy motor vehicles and coaches. The new log book is called a National Driver's Log Book. It replaces the Professional Driver's Log Book and the Special Purpose Driver's Log Book that are currently in use. However, drivers will be able to continue to use those log books until 5 April 1999.
The Regulation also amends the Schedule of fees under the Motor Traffic
Regulations 1935 for the purpose of prescribing a fee for the issue of a
National Driver's Log Book and for the purpose of law revision.
This Regulation is made under section 3 of the Traffic Act 1909, in particular
section 3 (1) (t1) .

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Motor Traffic Amendment (Log Book)

Regulation 1998.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 3 August 1998

The Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 are amended as set out in

Schedule 1 .

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

[1]       Regulation 126B Issue of log books

Omit Regulation 126B (3). Insert instead:

(3) An authorised log book issued by the Authority will be a
National Driver's Log Book.

Insert after Regulation 126H:

126HA Transitional

( 1 )

A Professional Driver's Log Book or Special Purpose Driver’s Log Book issued by the Authority before 3 August 1998 is taken to be an authorised log book for the purposes of this Part.

(2) This Regulation ceases to have effect on 5 April 1999.
