REGULATIONS UNDER THE TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Trade Practices Act 1974.

TRADE PRACTICES (REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES) REGULATIONS

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Trade Practices (Remuneration and Allowances) Regulations.

Commencement.

2. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 October 1974.

Remuneration and annual allowance of Chairman.

3. There is payable to the Chairman remuneration at the rate of $29,250.00 per year and an annual allowance at the rate of $1,750.00 per year.

Remuneration of Deputy Chairman.

4. There is payable to the Deputy Chairman remuneration at the rate of $22,012.00 per year.

Remuneration of members of Commission other than Chairman or Deputy Chairman.

5. There is payable to a member of the Commission other than the Chairman or Deputy Chairman—

(a) in the case of a full-time member—remuneration at the rate of $19,505.00 per year; and

(b) in the case of a part-time member—remuneration at the rate of $2,600.00 per year and, in addition, $35.00 in respect of each day on which he is engaged in performing duties as a member of the Commission.

Travelling allowance.

6. (1) Where a member of the Commission is, in the course of, or for the purposes of, performing his duties, necessarily absent overnight from the place in which he normally resides, travelling allowance is payable to him at the rate of—

(a) in respect of the Chairman—$34.00 per day; and

(b) in respect of any other member—$28.00 per day.

(2) Where a member of the Commission performs his duties outside Australia and the Territories, he is entitled to be paid the same allowances in respect of travelling expenses as—

(a) in the case of the Chairman—are payable to the Secretary to the Attorney-General’s Department when travelling outside Australia and the Territories; or

(b) in the case of any other member—are payable to an officer included in the Second Division of the Australian Public Service when travelling outside Australia and the Territories.

(3) Travelling allowance payable under this regulation is in addition to, and does not include, the cost of conveyance.

Remuneration of non-presidential member of Tribunal.

7. There is payable to a member of the Tribunal, other than a presidential member, remuneration at the rate of $2,600.00 per year and, in addition, $35.00 for each day on which he is engaged in performing duties as a member of the Tribunal.

Travelling allowance for members of the Tribunal.

8. (1) Where a member of the Tribunal, other than a presidential member, is, in the course of, or for the purposes of, performing duties as a member of the Tribunal, necessarily absent overnight from the place where he normally resides, travelling allowance is payable to him at the rate of $28.00 per day.

(2) Travelling allowance payable under this regulation is in addition to, and does not include, the cost of conveyance.
