REGULATIONS UNDER THE TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974-1975.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Trade Practices Act 1974-1975.

Amendments of the Trade Practices (Buoyancy Aids Safety Standards) Regulations

Commencement.

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 July 1975.

Consumer product safety standard for buoyancy aids.

2. Regulation 5 of the Trade Practices (Buoyancy Aids Safety Standards) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (2);

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (5) the words “ The warning ” and substituting the words “ Subject to sub-regulation (10), the warning ”;

(c) by omitting sub-regulation (7); and

(d) by omitting sub-regulation (10) and substituting the following sub-regulation:—

“ (10) Goods supplied on or after 1 July 1975 and before 1 March 1976 shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of sub-regulation (5) if—

(a) where the goods are offered for supply otherwise than in a package—there is affixed to the goods; or

(b) where the goods are offered for supply in a package—there is affixed to the package,

an opaque pressure sensitive adhesive label on which is printed in indelible ink and in a colour contrasting with the colour of the label—

(c) the warning; and

(d) an unbroken line 2 millimetres in width surrounding the warning.”.
