REGULATIONS UNDER THE TRADE PRACTICES ACT 19741

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Trade Practices Act 1974.

TRADE PRACTICES (APPAREL AND RELATED GOODS SAFETY STANDARD) REGULATIONS

Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Trade Practices (Apparel and Related Goods Safety Standard) Regulations.

Commencement

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 17 February 1979.

Prescribed consumer product safety standard for apparel and related goods

3. (1) For the purposes of section 62 of the Trade Practices Act 1974, the consumer product safety standard specified in sub-regulation (2) is prescribed in respect of—

(a) apparel; and

(b) yarns, textile fabrics or synthetic fibres of a kind used in the making of apparel.

(2) The consumer product safety standard referred to in sub-regulation (1) consists of the requirement that—

(a) apparel; and

(b) yarns, textile fabrics or synthetic fibres of a kind used in the making of apparel,

shall not contain tris (2, 3 dibromopropyl) phosphate.
