Trade Commissioners Regulations (Amendment) (Cth)

acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the
following Regulations under the

"14. (1) A Commissioner shall have the same entitlement to recreation leave or additional recreation leave as he would have if he were an officer of the Australian Public Service.
"(2) A function that may be performed by a Chief Officer of a Department or the Public Service Board in relation to recreation leave or additional recreation leave to which an officer of the Australian Public Service referred to in sub-regulation (1) is entitled may be performed by the Minister in relation to recreation leave or additional recreation leave to which a Commissioner is entitled under sub-regulation (1).
"(3) For the purposes of this regulation, a person who has held office as a Commissioner for 2 or more continuous periods shall be taken—
(a) to have commenced duties when he was appointed a Commissioner for the first of those continuous periods; and
(b) unless he ceases to be a Commissioner before the expiration of a period of office for which he was appointed, to have ceased to be a Commissioner when the last of those continuous periods of office has expired.".
"14B. (1) A Commissioner may be granted such leave of absence as could be granted to him, on the condition that a recreation leave credit that would otherwise subsequently accrue to him shall be reduced by the period of the leave of absence so granted, if he were an officer of the Australian Public Service.
"(2) A function that may be performed by a Chief Officer of a Department or the Public Service Board in relation to leave of absence granted to an officer of the Australian Public Service referred to in sub-regulation (1) may be performed by the Minister in relation to leave of absence granted under that sub-regulation.".
"42. (1) A Commissioner stationed at a post shall be entitled to be paid by way of allowance such amounts as he would be entitled to be paid in respect of the cost of travel by himself and his family to Australia, or another place, and return to the post during a period of recreation leave if he were an officer of the Australian Public Service.
"(2) An entitlement of a Commissioner under sub-regulation (1) shall be subject to the same conditions that would be applicable to the corresponding entitlement of an officer of the Australian Public Service.
"(3) A function that may be performed by a Chief Officer of a Department or the head of a mission in relation to the entitlement of an officer of the Australian Public Service referred to in sub-regulation (1) may be performed by the Minister in relation to an entitlement given by that sub-regulation.".
