An Act to amend the Totalizator (Off-course Betting) Act, 1964, so as to increase to 50 cents the unit of investment of 25 cents, to enable the Totalizator Agency Board to allow certain advertising on premises used by the Board, and in certain other respects. [Assented to, 13th April, 1977.]

~DE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by AJ and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows;—

1.     This Act may be cited as the “Totalizator (Off-course Short title.

Betting) Amendment Act, 1977”.

2.      (1) This section, section 1 and Schedule 1 (2) , (3) Commence-

and (5) shall commence on the date of assent to this Act.

(2)

Section 3 shall, in its application to a provision of

Schedule 1, commence on the day on which that provision commences.

(3)

Schedule 1 ( 1 ) and (4) shall commence on such

day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.

3. The Totalizator (Off-course Betting) Act, 1964, is Amendment

amended in the manner set forth in Schedule 1.

SCHEDULE 1.

(1) Section 2, definition of “Quinella totalizator”—

Omit the definition.

(2) Section 14 (3 )—

Omit “and amounts retained by the Board as commis­ sion under section 13a”, insert instead “amounts retained by the Board as commission under section

13a and, except as otherwise provided in this or any

other Act, any other income of the Board”.

(3) Section 16a (2 )—

Omit the subsection.

(4) (a) Section 17 (2) (d )—

Omit “except as provided by paragraphs (e) and (f), an amount of twenty-five cents”, insert instead “except as provided by paragraph (f), an amount of 50 cents”.

(b) Section 17 (2) (e)—

Omit the paragraph.

(5) Section 17a

After section 17, insert

17a. The Board may, with the approval of the Minister given in writing, allow advertising (other than the advertising of cigarettes or other tobacco products) on premises and on stationery or other matter used
