Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the Treasurer, and in pursuance of section 13C of the Totalizator (Off-course Betting) Act 1964, make the following Order.

Explanatory note

The Totalizator (Off-course Betting) Distribution of Investments and Commission—Race-meetings and Other Events Order 1997 provides for the distribution of dividends, or prize money and commissions from totalizator betting on events other than horse or greyhound races. The amendments provide for the possibility that the outcome of a contest between participants or teams of participants may be a draw.

This Order is made under sections 13B and 13C of the Totalizator

(Off-course Betting) Act 1964.

This Order is the Totalizator (Off-course Betting) Distribution of Investments and Commission—Race-meetings and Other Events Amendment Order 1997.

The Totalizator (Off-course Betting) Distribution of Investments and Commission—Race-meetings and Other Events Order 1997 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Omit the definitions of multiple outcome event and two outcome event.

Insert in alphabetical order:

head to head event means an event or series of events between contestants or teams where 3 or fewer contingencies (which may include a draw) are determined to be possible outcomes of the event or series

of events.

multiple outcome event means an event or series of events between contestants or teams where more than 3 contingencies (which may include a draw) are determined to be possible outcomes of the event or series

of events.

[3]        Clause 7 Distribution of dividends or prize money and commissions (events other than race meetings)

Omit “two outcome event” from clause 7 (2) (b), (3) (b) and (4) (b)
wherever occurring.
Insert instead “head to head event”.
