I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Totalizator Legislation Further Amendment Act 1995, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 January 1996 as the day on which that Act commences.

Pursuant to sec. 23 (5) of the Interpretation Act 1987, the proclamation does not fail merely because it was not published until after the day appointed in the proclamation. but sec. 23 (5) provides, in that event, for the Act to commence on the day on which the proclamation was published in the Gazette.
