An Act to repeal Act No. 263 of 1882 and Act No. 161

of 1879, and for other purposes.

E it Enacted by the Governor of the Province of South Aus-

and House of Assembly of the said province, in this present

B tralia, with the advice and consent of thc Legislative Council

Parliament assembled, as follows:

1, From and after the first day of Jime, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, Act No. 263 of 1882 and Act No. 161

of 1879 arc hereby repealed.

2. Every person betting, or offering to bet, by way of wagering ~enaltyon

or gaming, in any public place, or in any place to which the public ~

are or shall be permitted to have access, whether on payment of to 8 bet m sweep-

money or otherwise, or in any such place getting up or taking part "ake8.

in ally sweepstakes, or publishing, or causing to be published in any

public newspaper, or by circular, any advertisement inviting the

public to subscribe to or take part in any het or sweepstakes,

shall be liable to a penalty of not less than Forty Shillings nor

more than One Hundred Pounds; and for a second offence shall

be dcemed a vogue and vagabond within the true intent and mean-

ing of the " Police Act, 1869," and as such may he convicted

and punished.

3. Nothing in this Act contairid shall extend to any person Stakoholdem pm-

Short title.

4. This Act may be cited as the

'L'otalizator Repeal Act."
