Torres Strait Regional Authority Election Amendment Rules 2008

I, JENNY MACKLIN, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, make these Rules under subsection 143G (1) of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005.

1Name of Rules

These Rules are the Torres Strait Regional Authority Election Amendment Rules 2008.

2Commencement

These Rules commence on the day after they are registered.

3Amendment of Torres Strait Regional Authority Election Rules 1996

Schedule 1 amends the Torres Strait Regional Authority Election Rules 1996.

Schedule 1Amendments

(Section 3)

[1]Subrule 2 (1), definition of the Act

substitute

the Act means the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005.

[2]Subrule 2 (1), definition of ward, paragraph (b)

substitute

(b) the Horn/Prince of Wales Islands ward; or

(c) the TRAWQ ward; or

(d) the Bamaga ward; or

(e) the Seisia ward.

[3]Paragraph 2A (1) (b)

substitute

(b) the Horn/Prince of Wales Islands ward; and

(c) the TRAWQ ward; and

(d) the Bamaga ward; and

(e) the Seisia ward.

[4]Subrule 2A (3)

substitute

(3) The boundary of the TRAWQ ward is the boundary depicted on the map called ‘TRAWQ ward’, published by the Authority on 31 January 2008.

(4) The boundary of the Bamaga ward is the boundary depicted on the map called ‘Bamaga ward’, published by the Authority on 31 January 2008.

(5) The boundary of the Seisia ward is the boundary depicted on the map called ‘Seisia ward’, published by the Authority on 31 January 2008.

(6) The designated number for each ward is 1.
