Torres Strait Fisheries Regulations

(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Torres Strait Fisheries Act 1984.

Distinguishing number

1.Regulation 7 of the Torres Strait Fisheries Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-paragraph (3) (a) (ii) all the words after "surface vessels" and substituting "in black letters and figures on a yellow ground, each letter and figure being in accordance with the requirements of Schedule 3".

Penalties

2.The Torres Strait Fisheries Regulations are amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Addition of Schedule

3. The Torres Strait Fisheries Regulations are amended by adding at the end the Schedule set out in Schedule 2 to these Regulations.

AMENDMENTS RELATING TO PENALTIES

Sub-regulation 7 (3)—

Omit "exceeding $500", substitute the following:

"exceeding—

(d) in the case of a natural person $2,000; or

(e) in the case of a body corporate $10,000".

Sub-regulation 8 (2)—

Omit "$500", substitute "$2,000".

Sub-regulation 12 (4)—

Omit "$500", substitute "$2,000".
