AN ACT to increase the Duty payable on

Unmanufactured Tobacco.

[ Assented to, 26th February, 1891.]

HEREAS we, Your Majesty's dutiful and loyal subjects, the preamble_

WMembers of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia

in Parliament assembled, have towards raising the necessary supplies to defray the expenses of the Public Service freely and voluntarily resolved to give and grant to Your Majesty the Duty hereinafter men- tioned; And whereas it is expedient to increase the duty payable on Unmanufactured Tobacco ; Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and con- sent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :-

1. FROM and after the passing of this Act, in lieu of the duty Duty increased,

of One shilling per pound payable on unmanufactured tobacco under the provisions of " The Tariff Act, 1888," there shall be charged, raised, collected, and levied on unmanufactured tobacco a duty of Two shillings per pound.

2. THE said increased duty shall be collected and levied as

therein mentioned.

3. THIS Act may be cited as " The Tobacco (unmanufactured)

Short Title. Duty Act, 1891."
