No. VII.

An Act to increase the Duty on Tobacco manufactured in New South Wales. [8th

July, 1887.]

WH E R E A S it is expedient to alter the duty imposed by the Wales Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty

" Tobacco Act 1 8 8 4 " upon tobacco manufactured in New South

by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and
Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled
and by the authority of the same as follows :—
1. In lieu of the duty now chargeable upon tobacco manufac­ tured in any tobacco factory licensed under the "Tobacco Act 1 8 8 1 " on entry for home consumption there shall be levied and collected for the use of Her Majesty an excise duty upon tobacco manufactured or cut
a duty of one shilling and three pence per pound.
2. This Act may be cited as the " Tobacco Increase Duty Act

of 1887" I t shall be deemed to have come into force on the thirtieth

day of March one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven and from

that date shall be read with and as part of the "Tobacco Act 1 8 8 1 . "
