WH E R E A S it is expedient to al ter the dut ies imposed by the " Cus toms Dut i e s Ac t of 1855 " on impor ted Tobacco B e it

therefore enac ted by t h e Queen ' s Most Exce l l en t Majesty by and wi th t h e advice and consent of t he Legis la t ive Council and Legis la t ive

1. So m u c h of t he " Cus toms Dut ies A c t of 1855 " a n d of t h e

Schedule there to as imposes an uniform d u t y of two shi l l ings t h e pound on Tobacco a n d Snuff is hereby repealed.

2. There shall be payable on Tobacco Cigars and Snuff impor t ed

in to N e w Sou th W a l e s t he several dut ies of Cus toms ment ioned in t h e

Schedule here to .

3 . This Ac t shall commence on the first day of J a n u a r y one

thousand e ight h u n d r e d and s ixty- two and shall be styled and m a y be

cited as t he " T o b a c c o Duties Ac t of 1 8 6 1 . "
