Regulations 1996
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe the restrictions which are to apply to the advertising of tobacco products at the 1996 Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 43 of the Tobacco Act 1987.
3. Definitions
In these Regulations—
"function or event" means—
(a)
the 1996 Australian Formula One Grand Prix; or

(b) a function or event associated with the 1996 Australian Formula One Grand Prix— to be held at Albert Park, Melbourne, at any time on or after 7 March 1996 and before 11 March 1996.
"tobacco trademark or name" means—
(a)
the whole or part of a trademark or brand name of a tobacco product; or
(b)
the name of the manufacturer or distributor of a tobacco product.
4. Restriction of display
(1) Displays of a tobacco trademark or name in
connection with a function or event comply with
section 10(1) of the Tobacco Act 1987 if they arerestricted to—
(a)
signs or objects on or within the site of the function or event; or
(b)
signs or objects on the outside of any road, sea or air vehicle used in the function or event or on any participant in the function or event—
that comply with the conditions specified in
paragraph (b) of the specification under section
18(2) of the Tobacco Advertising Prohibition Act
1992 of the Commonwealth published in the
Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 21September 1995.
(2) A display referred to in sub-regulation (1) must
not occur before 29 February 1996 or after 17
March 1996.

5. Sunsetting
These Regulations are revoked on 1 April 1996.
