Legislative history

The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows:

1—Short title

This Act may be cited as The Standard Time Act 1898.

3—Standard time

The mean time of the meridian of longitude one hundred and forty-two and a half degrees east of Greenwich shall be deemed, and is hereby declared to be, standard time throughout South Australia.

4—Time mentioned in Acts, rules etc to mean standard time

Whenever any expression of time occurs in any Act, order in Council, rule, regulation, or by-law, or deed, or in any instrument whatsoever, and whenever the doing or not doing anything at a certain time of day or night, or during a certain part of the day or the night, has an effect in law, such time shall, unless it is otherwise specifically stated, be held to be standard time throughout South Australia, as declared by this Act.
