“ The Maitland lload Trust Act 1853 ” certain public roads specitiedin

a Schedule to the said Act annexed marked A 1 were placed in Trust of

certain Commissioners according to the provisions of the said Act and

by the said Act it was enacted that the Warden and the Councillors

of the District Council of Maitland for the time being should he the

George Gipps Knight then Governor of the Territory of New South Wales and under the Territorial Seal constituting the said District Council of ^laitland the boundaries of the said District of Maitland are different boundaries from those set forth in the said recited Act whereby doubts and difficulties have arisen as to the persons entitled to vote at the elections of District Councillors and it is expedient to remove the same Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of New South Wales with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof as follows :—

The ileturning Officers for the United Counties of Northum­ berland and Hunter for the Northumberland Boroughs lor the North­ eastern Boroughs and for the County of Durham respectively are hereby authorized and required within thirty days after they shall receive the several Collectors’ Lists of Electors in the various divisions of the Police District of Maitland to forward certified copies thereof to the Warden of the said District Council of Maitland for the time being who shall cause a general alphabetical list of the Electors of th(i whole District Council Electoral District to be fairly transcribed or printed with as little delay as possible from the lists so delivered to him and such general list shall be the Electoral List or Roll of tin; Electors entitled to vote in the said District Council Electoral District at all Elections that may take place of Members of the District Council between the first Tuesday of May inclusive in the year in which such Electoral Lists shall liave been made and the first Tuesday of May in the succeeding year.

3. I f in any year the Electoral Lists for any part of the said

Distilct Council Electoral District shall be omitted to be regularly made out or sliall not be perfected then and in that case the Electoral Roll for the preceding year or so much thereof as relates to such part of the said District shall be the Electoral Roll for another year and the Warden of the said District Council shall deliver a copy of the Electoral Roll of the said District Council Electoral District to all persons applying for the same on payment of a reasonabh; price (not exceeding five shillings) for each copy thereof.
