846 The Honourable Angelo Vasta ( Validation of Office) Act, 1989 Preamble: Whereas the Honourable Angelo Vasta is a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland: And whereas as a result of the First Report of the Parliamentary Judges Commission of Inquiry appointed under the Parliamentary(Judges) Commission of Inquiry Act 1988-1989 a question has arisen as to whether the Honourable Angelo Vasta has avoided his office as a Judge of the Supreme Court by reason of the operation of section 12 of the Supreme Court Act of 1867: BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title . This act may be cited as The Honourable Angelo Vasta (Validation of Office) Act 1989. 2. Validation of office. Notwithstanding section 12 of the SupremeCourt Act of 1867 it is hereby declared that- (1) the issue whether the office of Judge of the Supreme Court has been avoided by the Honourable Angelo Vasta by reason of section 12 of the Supreme Court Act of 1867 is not justiciable; (2) the Honourable Angelo Vasta is deemed to have held the office of and continued to validly exercise the powers of a Judge of the Supreme Court from his date of appointment as a Judge of that Court.
