properties in the City of Sydney held by the said Council and it is WHEREAS doubts exist as to the power of the Municipal Council of the City of Sydney to grant leases of or improve the various

expedient to remove such doubts Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South

Wales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as
follows:—

1. It shall be lawful for the Municipal Council of the City of Sydney to grant from time to time leases of the whole or any part of the various properties in the City of Sydney described in the Schedules hereto held by the said Council and to improve the said propreties as the said Council may direct Provided that the said properties shall be let by public competition by way of auction or tender and no lease shall be granted for any term exceeding twenty-one years and that a reasonable yearly rent be reserved to the Council during the currency of the lease Provided further that the allotment described in Schedule Two may be let for any period not exceeding ninety-nine years.

2. This Act may be styled and cited as " The City Properties Leasing and Improving Act."

DESCRIPTION.

Allotment Haymarket.

All that piece or parcel of land situate in the parish of St. Lawrence City of Sydney County of Cumberland and Colony of New South Wales Commencing at the intersection of the cast building alignment of George-street with the south building alignment of Campbell-street bounded on the north by the south building alignment of Campbell-street one hundred and two (102) feet thence by a line bearing southerly to the north building alignment of Hay-street on the south by the north building alignment of Hay-street one hundred and two (102) feet on the west by the east building alignment of George-street to the south building alignment of Campbell-street.

SCHEDULE II.

DESCRIPTION.

Allotment Hay-street.

All that piece or parcel of land situate in the parish of St. Lawrence City of Sydney County of Cumberland and Colony of New South Wales Commencing at the intersection of the cast building alignment of George-street with the south building alignment of Hay-street bounded on the north by the south building alignment of Hay-street to the west building alignment of Parker Lane on the east by the west building alignment of Parker Lane on the south by the northern boundary of the property of Mrs. A. B. Lea on the west by the cast building alignment of George- street to the south building alignment of Hay-street.

DESCRIPTION.

Market Wharf No. 1.

All that piece or parcel of land situate in the parish of St. Andrew City of Sydney County of Cumberland and Colony of New South Wales Commencing at the inter- section of the west building alignment of Wharf-street with the north building alignment of Market-street bounded on the east by the west building alignment of Wharf-street two hundred and ninety-five (295) feet more or less on the north by the southern boundary of the property of the Hunter River New Steam Company and by the waters of Darling Harbour on the west by the waters of Darling Harbour on the south by the Pyrmont Bridge and Market-street.

All that piece or parcel of land situate in the parish of St. Andrew City of Sydney County of Cumberland and Colony of New South Wales Commencing at the inter- section of the south building alignment of Market-street with the northern boundary of the Baltic Wharf bounded on the north by the south building alignment of Market- street and southern side of the Pyrmont Bridge on the west by the waters of Darling Harbour on the south by the northern boundary of the Baltic Wharf the property of the late William Northwood.

All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Parish of St. Phillip City of Sydney County of Cumberland and Colony of New South Wales containing by admeasurement one acre one rood and thirty perches (la. l r . 30p.) be the same more or less bounded on the east by the west building alignment of Kent-street north on the north by the southern boundary of John Terry Hughes's grant of one acre one rood and sixteen perches (la. l r . l0p.) on the west by the waters of Darling Harbour on the south by the northern boundary of Thomas Agars ' grant of two roods ten perches (2r. l0p.) again on the east by the west boundary-line of the Roman Catholic Church grant of one rood six perches (lr. 6p.) and again on the south by the north boundary-line of same grant to Kent-street.
