An Act to regulate the Appointment and Tenure of

Office of Agent-General.

E it Enacted by the Governor, with the advice and consent of

the Parliament of South Australia, as follows:

1, This Act may be cited as '' The Agent-General Act, 1901."

2, The Act No. 461 of 1889 is hereby repealed.

Bepeal.

3. The Governor may appoint any person to be Agent-General Appointme~t-

for South Australia in the United Kingdom.

4. The office of Agent-General shall be in the department of the Duties.

Treasurer, and any person heretofore or hereafter appointed to such office shall be under the supervision, control, and direction of the Treasurer, and shall do all things in the United Kingdom in relation to South Australia that the Treasurer of the State may direct, or which may be necessary and proper to be done in the best interests of the State.

5, The salary of the Agent-General shall be One Thousand Two Salary.

Hundred Pounds per annum, to be paid monthly out of the general revenue of the State, which is hereby appropriated for the purpose.

Term of office.

6, Every person appointed as Agent-General shall cease to hold

office at the end of three yyars, but mny nevertheless be eligible for re-appointment for a further term not exceeding three years only: Provided that the said Agent-General may at any time be suspended or removed from office by the Governor.
