1Name

This is the Television Licence Fees Amendment (Licence Fee Rebate) Regulation 2016.

    Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under the Television Licence Fees Act 1964.

Schedule 1Amendments

Television Licence Fees Regulations 1990

    Regulation 20 (definition of Australian Content Standard)

Repeal the definition.

Regulation 20 (definition of eligible licensee)

Repeal the definition, substitute:

eligible licensee means a licensee who holds a commercial television broadcasting licence allocated under section 36, 38A or 38B of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.

Regulation 21

Repeal the regulation, substitute:

21Application of the scheme

The rebate scheme in this Part applies to eligible licensees for the accounting period ending on a day in 2016.

Regulation 22

Repeal the regulation.

Subregulation 23(1)

Omit “accounting periods”, substitute “accounting period”.

Subregulations 23(2), (2A) and (2B)

Repeal the subregulations, substitute:

  1. (2)

    For the accounting period:

    1. (a)

      the amount of rebate is 25%; and

    2. (b)

      the deadline for claiming the rebate is 31 December 2016.

Subregulation 24(1)

Omit “any of the accounting periods to which the licence fee rebate applies”, substitute “the accounting period mentioned in regulation 21”.

Subregulation 24(2)

Omit “an accounting period”, substitute “the accounting period”.

Subregulation 24(2)

Omit “that accounting period”, substitute “the accounting period”.
